JAPAN

We came to Japan in 1985 with SEND International and served 26 years in the Tokyo/Yokohama area in church planting and mission administration ministry. After the March 11, 2011 triple disaster in Japan (earthquake, tsunami, nuclear meltdown), God led us to move from Tokyo to the disaster area on the Pacific coast of northern Japan (Tohoku) to help with post-disaster recovery and long-term church planting. We cooperate with Shiogama Bible Baptist Church in doing  outreach in two unreached areas and also host volunteer teams at our house that come here to help. I am the leader of the Tohoku Team which consists of 6 married couples and a single lady. Team members are from the US, Japan, Taiwan and Hong Kong. We have 4 children (3 daughters and 1 son – all married) and 5 grandchildren!

Favorite Bible verses:

Dave’s: Col. 1:27-29

To them God willed to make known what are the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles: which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.  Him we preach, warning every man and teaching every man in all wisdom, that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus.  To this end I also labor, striving according to His working which works in me mightily.

Eileen's: Gal. 2:20

I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.

Supporting God’s work around the world is something our church is very passionate about.  On a regular basis we provide support for short term missions projects, summer mission endeavors, Bible camps, relief aid, etc.  The full time missionaries we support are listed below.  This is still a work in progress and will be updated as we get more information from our missionaries.

Kristen and Kimberly Ward serving in Colorado

Kristen and Kimberly Ward

P.O. Box 38387

Colorado Springs, CO 80937

Organization: Mariposa Ministries

E-mail:  mariposahope@gmail.com

Kristen and Kimberly Ward are sisters who have been in ministry together since 2004.  They both graduated from Bible College and then Kristen went on to pursue her Master's degree in Biblical Counseling and Kimberly received training  to teach life and faith principles through wilderness adventures.

They served in cross-cultural church planting for eight years among Native American and Hispanic people groups in Canada, Mexico, and the United States.  Throughout their years evangelizing, discipling, and training leaders among women and youth, Kristen and Kimberly developed a passion for the restoration of hurting people.  Over time, it became evident that they needed to develop a more intentional focus on guiding individuals though the process of genuine biblical heart change -- with the goal of transforming hearts and restoring lives.  God began to plant seeds within their hearts for an independent ministry dedicated specifically to reaching people with trauma histories in order to address the issues that are distorting their view of God and hindering their spiritual growth.  In the Spring of 2013, they took those first steps of faith and founded Mariposa Ministries.  Kristen and Kimberly currently live in Colorado Springs, CO and their passion and vision for this ministry is growing every day.
